description=Built a Douglas C-54B-20-DO Skymaster at Santa Monica, CA, for the USAAF (c/n 27249). After WW2 struck off and converted to DC-4 standard by Douglas at El Segundo, CA (DC-4 conversion Nr. 10). Delivered to Western Air Lines. The C-54B-DC was acquired by Aviation Traders (Engineering) Ltd. on 24 October 1962 for conversion to Carvair (c/n C54B-DC/27249/ATL98/9). The first flight took place from Stansted on 8 June 1963 as G-ASHZ. She was sold to British United Air Ferries on 15 July 1963, named 'Maasbrug'. She is portrayed in her interim livery of British Air Ferries in 1967. Initially HZ could carry 22 passengers and 5 cars, later on 55 passengers and 2 cars were permitted. This Carvair is still flying (2006) in the USA as a freighter, registered N89FA. Textures by Jon Walton, revised by Maarten Brouwer
